As Halloween approaches, some Los Angeles neighborhoods transform with extensive decorations, according to L.A. Mag. These displays range from frightening yard setups to walk-through haunted houses, many of which are free to experience.

Angelino Heights, one of LA's oldest neighborhoods, is noted for its Victorian-era houses that lend themselves to a spooky atmosphere. Carroll Avenue, known as “The Haunted District,” is a popular street for Halloween strolls. This area also served as a backdrop for Michael Jackson’s 1982 “Thriller” music video.

Burbank residents are also recognized for their Halloween efforts, possibly due to the many creative professionals from the film industry living there. Streets like California Street, N. Clybourn Avenue, and N. Valley Street are good starting points for a decorated walk. Specific houses with notable displays include the Burbank Barbie house at 1021 N. California St., the Skeleton House at 3211 W. Clark Ave., and the Burbank Haunt at 857 N. Maple St.

In Valencia, Coffinwood Cemetery offers a walk-through experience with live actors. It is open on Friday and Saturday evenings in October. Fridays are designated as non-scare nights, suitable for children. Due to a limit of three to four people allowed in at a time, early arrival is suggested to avoid long lines.
