While Election Day is still a few weeks away, voters have multiple options to cast their ballots ahead of time, including in-person voting, returning mail-in ballots, or using official drop boxes.
Select L.A. County Vote Centers will open on Saturday, October 24, with additional locations becoming available on October 31, according to the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Voters are not restricted to a specific polling place and can vote at any Vote Center within Los Angeles County. To find a nearby location and check its operating hours and opening date, the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk website is the official resource.
California automatically sends mail-in ballots to active registered voters. Those who have received their ballots can fill them out at home and return them via mail, at a secure drop box, or in person at a Vote Center. The county has more than 400 official ballot drop boxes, according to the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. For mailed ballots, it is recommended to send them at least seven days before Election Day to ensure they are postmarked by November 3. All ballots returned via drop box must be deposited by 8:00 p.m. on November 3.
Voters who missed the online registration deadline of October 19 may still be able to register and vote through California’s same-day registration process at designated voting locations, though this requires casting a provisional ballot. Checking registration status or registering can be done through the California Secretary of State’s website. Additionally, voters can expedite their check-in time at Vote Centers by scanning a Quick Check-in Code found on their mailed Sample Ballot.
