AKUSO ("we") publishes this website. This policy explains what we collect and why.

Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address and preferred language to send you the Weekly Brief. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, or by writing to hello@akuso.la.

Analytics. We run our own privacy-friendly analytics: which pages are read, for how long, how far down, on what kind of device, the city your visit appears to come from, and whether you arrived from a search engine, social media or a link. It uses no cookies, never stores your IP address, and cannot follow you from one day to the next. The only cookie we set ourselves remembers whether you read the English or Chinese edition.

Advertising. We may show ads served by Google and other third-party vendors. These vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or at aboutads.info.

Links. Our stories link to other websites. Their privacy practices are their own.

California residents. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to delete it by emailing hello@akuso.la. We do not sell personal information.

Children. This site is not directed at children under 13.
