Skechers, the global shoe brand, is selling its original headquarters building at 228 Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The company confirmed it has no plans to leave Manhattan Beach, where it has been based for decades.

The original 28,000-square-foot downtown office, which opened in the early 1990s, is no longer needed. Skechers is nearing completion of a new 500,000-square-foot corporate campus. This new campus spans five buildings along Pacific Coast Highway in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach.

The downtown location has served as an auxiliary office for the apparel and kids' divisions. Staff from this building will soon relocate to the new campus. According to WWD.com, Skechers stated that this move aligns with a long-term real estate strategy to consolidate operations and foster collaboration.

Skechers remains deeply rooted in the community. The company highlighted that Manhattan Beach is where it first opened its doors to customers, and that original store still operates today. CBRE has been hired as the listing agent for the three-story building, which was extensively renovated in 2018 and includes a parking garage. While a listing price was not disclosed, real estate website Movoto estimates the site's value could range from $83.5 million to $102 million.

This is a big move for a major South Bay employer, and the sale of a prime downtown property could bring new retail or office possibilities to Manhattan Beach.
