Anthropic Files for Public Debut, Reveals Soaring Revenue
The AI company, known for its Claude models, has officially submitted its IPO filing, detailing significant revenue growth and a unique governance structure.
Anthropic, a prominent AI firm, has officially filed for an initial public offering, according to TechCrunch. This move follows weeks of speculation and positions the company for a closely watched public debut under the ticker “ANT.”
What are the financial details? The company reported $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, a significant increase from $1.2 billion during the same period last year. Despite this growth, Anthropic recorded an operating loss of $693 million, an improvement from $2.1 billion in the first half of 2025. Its net loss reached $80.7 billion, largely due to non-cash accounting adjustments related to convertible debt.
How large is its customer base? As of the end of September, Anthropic had over 11,900 enterprise customers who spend $100,000 or more annually. Among these, 1,900 customers spend $1 million or more, and approximately 250 customers spend $10 million or more.
What about company control? Anthropic's governance structure is designed to maintain control with its seven co-founders: Dario Amodei, Daniela Amodei, Tom Brown, Jack Clark, Jared Kaplan, Sam McCandlish, and Christopher Olah. These founders will form a “Founder LLC” controlling 50.1% of shareholder voting power. This structure aims to preserve the company’s AI safety mission, according to the filing. Additionally, the Long-Term Benefit Trust, established in 2023 for the company's public benefit mission, will appoint most of the board.
