Initially, the Silver Lake Swingers will offer takeout only, with the dining room expected to open in December.
Swingers first opened on Beverly Boulevard in 1993. The diner is known for its late-night breakfast and retro interior. It was featured in Hollywood productions and inspired the 1996 film Swingers.
Stephanie Wilson, the current owner and former general manager, stated that she had been looking for a suitable location in Silver Lake. She noted that many long-time regulars had moved eastward and expressed a desire for a location closer to them.
The menu at the Silver Lake location will be similar to the original, featuring California omelets, buttermilk pancakes, the Swingers burger, and a hot turkey sandwich. The restaurant will also offer location-specific specials and aims to include a dish honoring the late All Day Baby chef, Jonathan Whitener. The interior will replicate the original diner's style with plaid booths, mosaic tiles, and wood-paneled walls.
This expansion brings a well-known local establishment to a new neighborhood, providing more options for late-night dining. The owner emphasized the importance of small restaurants to LA's culture and community.
